As a consumer, when you purchase an appliance, an automobile, a computer, an SUV, a TV—whatever—you take for granted the product has been designed and built for safe usage with built-in safety features or devices in order to prevent malfunctions and/or harm occurring during normal use. At least that’s the way it’s supposed to be and why manufacturers usually own product liability insurance in the event of an unseen product failure.

That’s not the case when it comes to microwave industry wireless technology and the “G” updates such as 3G, 4G and 5G to provide ever-faster Wi-Fi service and to establish the global network known as the Internet of Things (IoT). It’s warp speed to implement 5G with all opposition and contradictory science be damned!

What are the G’s about?

“G” relates to “generation of technology.”

A proposal to levy a statewide 1 percent residential property tax would vault Illinoisans’ property tax burden to the highest of all 50 states.

The latest prescription for curing Illinois’ pension woes without reform? Crowning Illinois homeowners as the No. 1 property taxpayers in the nation.

Economists from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago released a report May 7 suggesting a 1 percent statewide residential property tax, on top of the property tax bills Illinoisans already pay. The revenue from this new property tax would go entirely toward paying down the state’s pension debt. (The report’s authors peg that debt at roughly $130 billion. Moody’s Investors Service has estimated it may be more than $250 billion.)

Under the plan, owners of homes worth $250,000 would pay an additional $2,500 in property taxes for the next 30 years.

NTT Docomo develops manhole-type base station

Major Japanese mobile carrier NTT Docomo has developed a base station for 5G technology that is buried in the ground to overcome a shortage of space.The water-proof antenna is placed into a 70-centimeter deep hole and then covered with reinforced plastic that still allows radio waves to pass through.In accordance with guidelines set by the communications ministry, the intensity and direction of the radio waves will be adjusted to prevent them from affecting passers-by.

The new 5G wireless systems require more base stations than before but the amount of available space on towers and building roofs is becoming increasingly limited.

NTT Docomo plans to start putting the new base stations into practical use next March.

The company’s manager in charge of wireless access networks, Jun Ando, says they came up with the idea of burying the base stations while thinking of ways to overcome the space shortage.

He says his company hopes this new technology will allow more people to enjoy stable wireless reception.

STREAMLINING AND EXPEDITING REQUESTS TO LOCATE BROADBAND FACILITIES IN RURAL AMERICA

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to promote better access to broadband internet service in rural America, it is hereby ordered as follows:

Section 1.  Policy.  Americans need access to reliable, affordable broadband internet service to succeed in today’s information-driven, global economy.  Currently, too many American citizens and businesses still lack access to this basic tool of modern economic connectivity.  This problem is particularly acute in rural America, and it hinders the ability of rural American communities to increase economic prosperity; attract new businesses; enhance job growth; extend the reach of affordable, high-quality healthcare; enrich student learning with digital tools; and facilitate access to the digital marketplace.
